2021 CIA Challenge Exam for CPAs and CAs

This year The IIA will once again partner with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) to offer a CIA challenge exam for qualified accounting bodies including ACCA members. CPAs and CAs earned from other qualified accounting bodies may also be eligible for the challenge exam. The complete list of eligible qualified accounting bodies can be found here.

The challenge exam will focus on the CIA exam content not already covered by the accounting body. In offering the challenge exam, The IIA continues to demonstrate that internal audit profession is a distinct profession from accounting and the CIA is an essential designation to be a professional internal auditor.

Candidates can apply from 1 August to 30 September 2021 for the challenge exam that will be delivered during the month of November 2021 or January 2022 (in English only). Candidates who do not pass may retake the exam in one of the testing windows in 2022 for an additional fee.  

Though membership is not included in the bundle, we have seen hundreds of new members join us via the 2020 CIA challenge exam program. I am sure you will take this opportunity to promote the value of IIA membership, including the significant savings for the CIA Challenge Exam. IIA membership must be activated prior to the candidate enrolling in the CIA Challenge Exam to receive the correct program pricing within CCMS.
